Obituary

By Katy Costley

May my legacy be
bare feet grounded
in red clay

Steadiness in fluctuating times,
empathy against a distant world,
grappling with grace

May my legacy be
echoes of laughter
in full rooms

When I go
I hope they recall
the fire
the fierceness
but also the compassion

May my legacy be
wildflowers growing through cracks
bread to the geese
and a much happier existence
than those before me

This is a lovely poem. The images are life-giving and striking. The poem is both gentle and strong. Great use of language. Thank you for posting this. A nice way to start my day!
